About the Ole Miss NROTC Alumni Association

Forged in the Ole Miss Tradition

Since 1946, the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Mississippi has stood as a cornerstone of leadership development. The Ole Miss NROTC Alumni Association is dedicated to preserving our naval legacy through a lifelong sense of pride, accomplishment, and belonging among our members.

We unite generations of alumni who walked the same campus, stood in the same formations, and accepted the same mantle of responsibility. We exist to support the University of Mississippi Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps community through every stage of naval service.

Our Mission

To preserve our naval legacy by strengthening and uniting the Ole Miss NROTC community through every stage of service.

We achieve this by empowering officer development for the unit, supporting the welfare of our active-duty officers, and providing a robust network and lifelong camaraderie among all our alumni.

Our Foundational Pillars

Our association is built on three core Functional Pillars that define our actions across the entire lifecycle of a Navy and Marine Corps officer:

  • Heritage: The deliberate preservation of the unit’s naval legacy, traditions, and history, fostering a lifelong sense of pride and honor.

  • Continuity: The seamless, ongoing support extended to the Ole Miss NROTC community across every stage of their naval careers—from midshipman development to active-duty welfare.

  • Camaraderie: The lifelong bond of mutual trust, shared experience, and psychological kinship forged through naval service and university roots.

How We Operate

To support our mission and ensure a career-long support system, our strategy is driven by active operational areas:

  • Supporting the Unit (Legacy): Providing mentorship via guest speakers, wardroom upgrades, commissioning gifts, training resources, and student excellence awards.

  • Supporting Active Duty (Continuity): Facilitating career networking, professional transitions, deployment care packages, duty station sponsorships, and promotion tracking.

  • Supporting Alumni (Camaraderie): Organizing reunions, homecoming events, regional watch parties, social gatherings, and supporting alumni-owned businesses.

  • Organizational Structure & Communication: Utilizing governance structures (The Bridge), regional chapters (The Task Force), professional career networks (The Ready Room), our official communication hub (The Quarterdeck), and our secure member directory (The Roster).
